The GraduateCenterLMU is the central unit for issues related to doctoral studies at LMU Munich. We have a strong interest in optimizing the conditions for all doctoral candidates at the university – both for those participating in doctoral programs and for individually supervised candidates. In addition, we contribute towards establishing up-to-date standards in quality assurance and supervision that can be applied across a range of disciplines while also embracing the variety of disciplinary cultures at LMU. Moreover, we contribute towards broadening the spectrum and visibility of LMU doctoral programs.
The GraduateCenterLMU was founded in 2008 as part of the institutional strategy LMUexcellent, which is funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments. Since then, we have established a comprehensive range of services and advice, aimed particularly at the target groups "Graduates and Doctoral Candidates" and "Supervisors and Coordinators". We maintain a continuous dialogue with our target groups to gain insights into their respective requirements, allowing us to adjust our services accordingly. In our tasks we are supported by an advisory board consisting of the spokespersons of the doctoral programs of LMU Munich.
The GraduateCenterLMU is a member of the Arbeitskreis Nachwuchsförderung an bayerischen Universitäten.
