Target Group

Frage Who is eligible to participate in the events of the lecture series "Kurz & bündig" by the GraduateCenterLMU?
Antwort Please refer to the respective announcement to find out who is considered eligible for participation in the event. Most events are aimed at doctoral candidates of LMU Munich, which means only candidates who hold a university degree that qualifies for the conferral of a doctorate and whose official supervisor is a professor at LMU can partake. Any vacant spots may also be allocated to doctoral candidates from the Dr. med. and Dr. med. dent. who do not yet hold a university degree that qualifies for the conferral of a doctorate.
FAQ I am doing my doctorate at LMU, but am not enrolled as a doctoral candidate. Can I participate in the events?
FAQ Yes, if you hold a university degree that qualifies for the conferral of a doctorate and your official supervisor is a professor at LMU.
FAQ I live in Munich, however I am not doing my doctorate at LMU, but at another university. Can I take part in the events?
FAQ Unfortunately not.
FAQ I am doing my doctorate at a non-university research institution. Can I take part in the events?
FAQ Yes, if you hold a university degree that qualifies for the conferral of a doctorate and your official supervisor is a professor at LMU and you will submit your dissertation to LMU.
FAQ My official supervisor is emeritus or no longer working at LMU. Can I participate in the events?
FAQ Yes, if you hold a university degree that qualifies for the conferral of a doctorate and you will submit your dissertation to LMU.
FAQ I am doing my doctorate part-time at LMU. Can I take part in the events?
FAQ Yes, if you hold a university degree that qualifies for the conferral of a doctorate and your official supervisor is a professor at LMU.
FAQ I am a student at LMU. Can I take part in the events?
FAQ No, unless students are explicitly mentioned as a target group in the announcement of the event.

Registration, Confirmation, Waiting List

FAQ What happens after my online registration?
FAQ

You will receive an email confirming that we have received your registration. This is not yet a confirmation that you will be admitted to the event! (If you do not receive this email, you have probably entered an invalid email address. In this case, please fill in the registration form again and submit it. Please check your spam folder as well.)

We will send you a separate email informing you whether you have been accepted to participate in the event or not. Depending on the number of available spots and the number of registrations received, you may also be placed on the waiting list.

FAQ What does registration for the waiting list mean?
FAQ Currently, the event is fully booked. If you are on the waiting list, you may receive the vacant spot if someone cancels. We will inform you as soon as a place becomes available.
FAQ Do I have to pay for the events?
FAQ No.
FAQ Can I take part in an event without a confirmation?
FAQ No.

Cancellations

FAQ What should I do if I am unable to attend?
FAQ Your registration is binding. If you have to cancel your participation, please do so as early as possible via email so that we can timely fill the vacant spot.
FAQ What happens if I don't cancel on time or fail to appear without notice?
FAQ If you repeatedly fail to appear at an event without timely cancellation or are temporarily absent, you can only be considered with lower priority at future events from the "Kurz & bündig" lecture series.
FAQ I am unable to attend at short notice. Can I name a substitute or pass my place on to someone else?
FAQ No. Please inform us as soon as possible about the impediment.

Other

FAQ Where do the events take place?
FAQ The events take place in the inner-city area near the LMU main building. You will be informed about the venue in your registration confirmation.
FAQ When do the events start?
FAQ The events start at the respective times given in the announcement, usually at 4 pm s.t.
FAQ How many spots are available?
FAQ Depending on the format, there are 20 to 30 spots per event.
FAQ Who are the speakers?
FAQ The lectures are held by experienced external or LMU-internal speakers.
FAQ Do I need to prepare or bring anything to the events?
FAQ Usually not.
FAQ Do I receive a confirmation of participation?
FAQ No confirmation of participation will be issued for participation in events from the "Kurz & bündig" lecture series.
