Registration, confirmation, waiting list

FAQ What happens after I have registered online?
FAQ You will receive an e-mail confirming that we have received your application. This is not a confirmation that you have received a place for the workshop! If you do not receive this e-mail, you have probably given an invalid e-mail address. If this is the case, please fill out the registration form again and send it off. Please also check your spam folder.

We will send you a separate e-mail informing you whether you have been accepted to participate in the workshop or not. Depending on the number of available places and the applications received it may take a few days or weeks until you receive definitive confirmation of whether you have a place in the workshop or not.

FAQ When will I find out whether I can participate in the workshop?
FAQ We will send a separate e-mail informing you whether you have been accepted to participate in the workshop or not. Depending on the number of available places and the applications received it may take a few days or weeks until you receive definitive confirmation of whether you have a place in the workshop or not. We ask for your patience.
FAQ What happens if I do not receive a place in the workshop?
FAQ If the workshop is already fully booked, we will automatically put your name on the waiting list and inform you of this by e-mail. If another participant cancels, their place in the workshop will be given to someone on the waiting list. Please note that unfortunately we can usually only inform people on the waiting list that they have been given a place in the workshop a few days before the workshop takes place.
FAQ What does registering for the waiting list mean?
FAQ The workshop is fully booked. If you register for the waiting list, you have a chance of getting a place in the workshop if another participant cancels. Please note that unfortunately we can usually only inform people on the waiting list that they have been given a place in the workshop a few days before the workshop takes place.
FAQ For how many workshops may I apply?
FAQ You may apply to participate in an unlimited number of workshops. However, for reasons of fairness, doctoral students may not participate in more than three GraduateCenterLMU workshops per year, unless a workshop is not fully booked.
FAQ Do I have to pay for the workshops?
FAQ No.
FAQ Can I take part in the workshop if I have not received confirmation that I have been accepted to participate?
FAQ No.

Cancellations

FAQ What must I do if I am unable to attend?
FAQ Registration for a workshop is binding. Please only cancel if you have a good reason (e.g. illness) and please let us know as soon as possible (by e-mail or telephone) so that we have enough time to find someone to take your place. Should you cancel at very short notice (one to two days before the start of the workshop) and without giving a valid reason, we reserve the right to exclude you from future GraduateCenterLMU workshops.
FAQ What should I do if I fall ill shortly before the workshop?
FAQ Please get in touch with us as soon as possible by e-mail or telephone so that we can give your place to someone on the waiting list.
FAQ What happens if I do not cancel in due time or if I fail to attend the workshop without having informed the GraduateCenterLMU?
FAQ If you fail to attend the workshop without having informed us of your reasons for doing so beforehand, you will be excluded from future GraduateCenterLMU workshops. Should you cancel at very short notice (one to two days before the start of the workshop) and without giving a good reason, we reserve the right to exclude you from future GraduateCenterLMU workshops.
FAQ I have to cancel at short notice. Can I name someone to take my place or give my place to someone I know?
FAQ No. Please inform us as quickly as possible that you are unable to attend.
FAQ What must I do if I am not able to participate in the whole workshop (if I have to come late, leave early or be absent for part of the workshop)?
FAQ Please inform us prior to the workshop if you are unable to be present for the whole time. We will talk to the leader of the workshop to clarify whether it is possible for you to participate in the workshop under these circumstances. Should you miss part of the workshop without having informed us of this beforehand, we reserve the right to exclude you from future GraduateCenterLMU workshops.

FAQ The number of participants ranges from 8 to 20 depending on the workshop format.
FAQ Who are the speakers?
FAQ Our workshops are held by experienced external speakers or speakers from LMU Munich.
FAQ Do I need to prepare for or bring anything to the workshops?
FAQ Occasionally you will be given small assignments as preparation or you will have to bring an existing presentation or the like with you. You will receive the appropriate information when or after you receive confirmation of your place in the workshop. FAQ Are ECTS points awarded for participation in the GraduateCenterLMU workshops?
FAQ The GraduateCenterLMU does not award ECTS points. The coordinator of your doctoral program is responsible for converting workshop participation into ECTS points. As a guide: One ECTS point corresponds to a workload of 25 to 30 hours including preparation and follow-up work. For a one-day workshop – depending on the format – one can estimate a workload of approximately 8 to 10 hours.
